BKS Celebrates 60 Years of Friendship

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of the foundation of the Society: our Hwangap ( 환갑), a celebration of longevity. Reaching 60 means completing one big circle and starting another, reflecting the traditional 60 year cycle of the lunar calendar. We hope you can join us in celebrating this special anniversary, and encourage others to do so.
Throughout its time the aim of the Society has been to foster friendship and strengthen links between the UK and the Republic of Korea. Membership has grown from a couple of dozen people in 1956 to over 200 today. These are drawn from British, Korean and other communities in the UK and include members from diplomacy, academia, business, media, the cultural world, church, armed forces and others from all walks of life drawn to its purpose.
Several special events are planned for the year including a bilateral business seminar at Mansion House in September and a Gala Dinner at the House of Commons in November. We will also be holding our regular events including a Chuseok celebration, Museum visit, Korean food events, and a London walking tour. Members will be kept informed by email and information posted on the website. We look forward to your continued involvement and support as the British Korean Society enters its 7th decade.
