I am currently a PhD candidate in Urban Studies and Planning at University of Sheffield. I achieved MA in Cultural Policy and Arts Management at Sheffield Hallam University. The subject of MA dissertation was “Evidence of social impacts by the UK inaugural City of Culture in Londonderry, Northern Ireland” with distinction that attempted to understand how the UK City of Culture 2013 as a mega-event contributed to social elements of Londonderry in the aspect of culture-led urban regeneration.

As a profoundly extended research, the aim of PhD is to examine and understand the interrelationship between mega cultural event and social regeneration in South Korea through a year-long Cultural City of East Asia event in qualitative approach. Also the thesis opens up wider questions about changing approaches to urban regeneration in South Korea.

The support of the British Korean Society will help to undertake my final field-work including interview and focus groups in South Korea.
