In what has become an annual tradition, the Society hosted a briefing on 22 May from UK representatives from Seoul and Pyongyang regarding the situation on the Korean peninsula and relations with the UK.  It was held in collaboration with SOAS at their Alumni Lecture Theatre on the London campus.

On this occasion, Charles Hay, who stepped down as Ambassador to Seoul in February, and Alastair Morgan, Ambassador in Pyongyang, were the speakers.  They were introduced to the audience of some 100 by the Chairman of the Society, Martin Uden, who explained that the briefing would be held under the Chatham House rule, preserving the confidentiality of the Ambassadors’ remarks.  A vote of thanks was proposed by the Society’s President, Sir Stephen Brown, and the evening concluded with a drinks reception.
