Sang-ah Kim, Curator for the Korean collections, and Dr. Meejung Kim-Marandet, Amorepacific Conservator for Korean Paintings at the British Museum, will guide us around the Korean gallery display at the British Museum. The tour will last 30-40 minutes. The highlight of the tour includes the temporary display of the newly restored 19th-20th Century Korean artworks such as the 19th-century folding screens of Five Confucian virtues, Scenes of life and the 20th-century work Flying Geese. Over five years, these artworks were thoroughly analysed and restored by scholars and conservators. The current gallery display celebrates the paintings’ debut in the gallery thanks to the generous grant from Amorepacific.

The guided tour will start at 5.30pm in Room 67, The Korea Foundation Gallery.

Numbers are limited for the tour. This is a member only event and there is no charge for the guided tour.

Following the tour, we are planning to have an informal meal at a nearby restaurant at one’s own cost.

Please note that the British Museum has a late opening on Fridays until 8.30pm and members are free to visit other parts of the museum before or after the tour.

To reserve your place, please sign up using our online booking form indicating if you wish to join for dinner afterwards.
