On September 6 the City law firm Addleshaw Goddard kindly and generously hosted a talk by Ms Agathe L’Homme from The Economist Intelligence Unit.

Ms L’Homme spoke about economic trends in Asia to the year 2050 with particular reference to South Korea. She drew attention to the huge demographic and economic changes which would result in China and India becoming the largest economies in the World. South Korea would have its own demographic problems but if it continued with forecast institutional, fiscal, educational, investment and commercial changes it would continue to be an important developed country.

The audience comprised BKS members and their guests, and non-members from the City, many of whom asked a number of searching questions. Ms L’Homme answered in depth. The excellent presentation and lengthy Q and A was followed by refreshments and networking.

Members of the British Korean Lawyers Association joined the BKS at the event.

The Society very much welcomes opportunities to collaborate in this way with firms and other organisations to mutual benefit and will continue to do so.
