Nadeschda L BachemNadeschda is a PhD student at the Centre for Cultural, Literary and Postcolonial Studies (CCLPS) at SOAS, University of London, working on contemporary South Korean and Japanese literature.

In 2011, Nadeschda received her MA in Japanese studies with distinction from the University of Cologne, where she devoted her MA thesis to the works of the Korean Japanese writer Yi Yang-ji. After two years working for Toshiba Europe where she started studying Korean, she gravitated back to academia. Her project so far has received funding from the German National Academic Foundation, the Arts and Humanities Research Council as well as the German Institute of Japanese Studies in Tokyo and she is very grateful for the support of the British Korean Society Post-Graduate Bursary which will help her cover the tuition fees of the final year of her study.
